Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 25, 2026
ChessVG is designed to be private by default. The tool runs entirely in your browser, requires no account, and does not upload your positions or images to a server.
What we collect
We do not ask you to create an account and we do not collect personal information such as your name or email address. The positions you build, the styles you choose, and the images you export stay on your device.
Data stored in your browser
ChessVG uses your browser's local storage to remember your saved templates and preferences so you can re-apply them later. This data lives only on your device, is never sent to us, and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.
Loading Lichess puzzles
When you load a random or daily puzzle, ChessVG requests that single puzzle from the free, open Lichess puzzle database through our server, which then returns the position to your browser. No information about you is attached to that request beyond what is technically required to fetch the puzzle.
Hosting and server logs
The site is hosted on Vercel. Like most web hosts, Vercel may automatically process standard technical request data (such as IP address and browser type) to serve the site securely and reliably. This is handled by our hosting provider and is not used by ChessVG to identify you.
External links
ChessVG links to third-party sites, including ChessSolve and Ko-fi. When you follow those links, the destination site's own privacy policy applies. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of external sites.
Cookies and tracking
ChessVG does not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking to profile you. The only data kept in your browser is the local storage described above, which exists purely to make the tool work.
Children's privacy
ChessVG is a general-audience tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
